Induction heating a blank before hot forging.
Threads are "rolled" by forming threads in
rolling dies, fatigue properties are greatly enhanced. Also, tensile properties
are increased and become more uniform. Most aero-space fasteners are rolled
after heat treatment, and are held to very fine tolerances.
